Happy New Year!
Happy New Year everyone! I pray that each of you enjoyed the Christmas holiday and rang in the New Year either sleeping or ringing bells somewhere!
One of the activities that I found myself doing on this first day of 2019 was frantically driving my car through the neighborhood and hollering for my dogs. Three of the four had taken advantage of a cracked door leading to the garage—only to happily find that the garage door was also open. Within seconds, they were gone.
It took me a few minutes before I realized how quiet the house was and started wondering: Where are Winford, Sam and Molly?” When I turned around and saw the open door, I freaked out!
After driving around for a while, I was thrilled to see two of the dogs emerge from their jaunt with regretful faces that seemed to say, Mommy, we want to get home!” So, into the car they went. Molly, however, was still out and about and my quest continued. Finally, a neighbor several streets over heard me crying for Molly and headed my way. “Ma’am, I think I have found your dog.” Eureka! Mission complete! Winford, Sam and Molly were all safe.
This little scare reminded me how quickly aspects of our life can change – here one minute and gone the next. We never know what curveball will suddenly come our way, but thankfully, there are a lot of great people in this world (like the neighbor I just met) and my sister, who volunteered to walk the neighborhood while I was driving around like “a crazy dog lady” (that’s how I’m described on the magnet a friend got for me!).
May we never take any day—or anyone—for granted. Always remember:
Yesterday is History
Tomorrow is a Mystery
Today is a GIFT—that’s why it’s called the PRESENT!
I pray that you have a successful, happy and meaningful 2019.
